How To Get Rid Of Bloating Fast
92How To Get Rid Of Bloating Fast
Feeling full and a little tight around the abdomen? If so you may be experiencing an episode of bloating. There are many causes, direct or indirect that lead to a distended stomach, knowing which one was the culprit is key in quickly normalizing "the situation". Before we begin, take a minute to mentally jot down any allergies, medical problems and dietary habits you have. It will make self-diagnosis quite a breeze. Having said that, please remember that this article was not written by a doctor, and I'm certainly not going to double as one!
In this article I will help viewers narrow the causes of their bloating and suggest a few, easy ways to calm the intestinal storm. Happily, most cases of bloating are relatively harmless (but not always) although they may indicate there some lifestyle or dietary changes need to be made. We'll discuss those too, briefly and concisely!
About Stomach Pain
While pain does occur, it can be confusing. Cramps can appear and change location seemingly at random. Due to the rapid changes in location, when pains begin affecting the chest are they are often mistaken for heart pains.
Bloating Symptoms And Causes
Symptoms of bloating aren't, as you'd be willing to testify about, particular pleasant.
- Full stomach - You may feel unreasonably full for an unusual period of time.
- Pain - A distended stomach can lead to some pain, but rarely does. If it does happen it may be excruciating due to cramping (see right text capsule for more information).
- Burping - A signal that the body is attempting to release gas.
- Swelling
If you are experiencing a number of these at the same time, chances are you fit the bloating bill. The most important part in fixing the problem will be in identifying the cause. Here are a number of popular reasons that may have triggered the onset.
- Overeating - The most common cause of bloating.
- Ascites (fluid retention) - Can be an emergency scenario if the swelling is caused by peritoneal blood or fluids. Click on this link to learn more about additional symptoms and causes.
- Irritable bowel syndrome - If your case of bloating has lasted awhile, you may want to learn more about IBS.
- Food allergies and intolerance.
- Aerophagia - Simply put, breathing too much air. Hyperventilation due to stress can causes bloating.
- Menstruation
- Coeliac disease - An autoimmune disorder of the small intestine.
- Sulfur-rich foods - I don't think I need to elaborate further!
- Intestinal blockage.
- Dehydration .
- Stress.
Older readers (ideally, everyone) should be wary of any persistent form of bloating as it could signal the onset of other, slightly more serious situations such as an Ovarian cyst or organ disease.
When To Seek A Doctor
Persistent bloating (nothing seems to work) should be treated with caution. Other warning signs are:
- Rapid weight loss.
- Prolonged constipation.
- Diarrhea.
- Bleeding.
Getting Rid Of Bloating Naturally
The speed at which you get rid of bloating will largely depend on your diagnosis. In order to relieve symptoms in the short-term try some ginger tea. A cup after meals will help you digest and help you to re-hydrate naturally. Before each meal you could try drinking some lemon juice (add freshly pressed juice into water). Many herbal teas (blackberry and chamomile) are notorious for their ability to "de-bloat" effectively. Perhaps the most common anti-bloat solution is activated charcoal in tablet form.
If your bout of bloating stemmed from overeating or an unbalanced diet, prevention will involve the following steps:
- Avoid skipping meals.
- Increase your fiber intake (breakfast cereal is a good source).
- Eat at regular intervals.
- Make a point of slowing down the rate at which you eat. Digestion begins in the mouth and not in the stomach. Rapidly ingesting food is the quickest route to indigestion and bloating.
- Exercising will stimulate digestion.
- Give your body a chance to digest properly before engaging in physical activities or other strenuous exercises.
- Drink plenty of water (unless you have chronic kidney problems drinking more water will flush out excess fluid).
Other things to avoid if possible are smoking, coffee, stress, artificial sweeteners, too much sodium (leads to fluid retention) and fizzy drinks (gas pileup).
Conclusion
If homemade remedies fail to work, and bloating persists, and save a more serious diagnosis, your doctor may prescribe antacids as an effective cure for bloating. However, keeping the bloat off is entirely in your hands! I hope I have been of some use in providing some easily "digested" information, and wish you the best!

Very useful and concise I'll bookmark this for reference...
Comprehensive and useful article, well done!
Great information in an extremely useful hub. Voted up, up and away!
I have found that the Crack diet works well for removing unwanted body fat, however it is hell on your checking account.
It also works well for getting rid of unwanted household items, cars, houses and jobs.
Getting off said diet can also be difficult, but it is very successful as their are no fat or bloated crackheads.
Definitely useful. I always go for the tonic water myself. Voted up. Thanks. :)
thank you for this informative hub. I seldom experience bloating now a days because I have plenty of fiber in my diet. But for those rare occasions in which it may happen this information helps me get to the cause of the problem. Keep up the good work!
Aha, I can use the lemon ginger tea I got. Stash brand. Certainly always want to get rid of that bloating as fast as possible when it sets in.
I have tried ginger milk instead of antacids recently and it really helped. Thanks thooghun for writing us such a useful hub.
Ginger tea noted! :)
Really useful one! :)
Very informative and helpful.thanks!
Boy if you only knew how helpful this hub is, bloating and excessive gas not only is a problem for me, but my mom also has it but we both do have diverticulitis which part of the cause. Thanks for sharing this wealth of information.
This hub hit the spot for me. Thanks for sharing. This is wonderful information I will pass on to other family members who suffer from this.
A very informative Hub, thanks for sharing!
Activated charcoal in tablet forms? Never heard of those... do you know where can I get them?
In the mean time I'll try the lemon and ginger tea suggestion.
Baking soda mixed in water works for me. Simple and very cheap!
I like the video. One must be careful about the chronic use of antacids (Google about it). I prefer vegetable charcoal if it is after the fact. Taking Beano right before eating beans and starchy carbohydrates might also help.
