The Best Ionic Fresh Air Purifiers Review
79Facts and Fiction
There has been a great deal of controversy related to air ionizer technology and products. The main advantage claimed by this form of air purifier is its ability to improve living standards. A report by the New Scientist as early as 2003 discovered that ionic breeze air purifiers drastically reduced hospital infections.
In the recent years, the emergence of several high profile air-borne diseases has helped popularize negative ion air cleansers, and I invite readers to learn more about the efficacy of these appliances before acquiring one.
With that in mind, I am going to review some of the best ionic air purifiers on the market in terms of effectiveness and value.
Ionic Breeze® Quadra® Silent Air Purifier
I usually begin with one of my favorites, but I had to mention the Quadra first, because -- well -- I had to. Frankly, I'm not a fan. By all reports and accounts it fails at ridding even small rooms of dust, and at this price, you should be able to expect quite a punch in terms of performance.
Viewers who seek solace from allergens will find the Quadra efficient and silent, however. In this, I find no fault whatsoever and many of the positive reviews I have read focus on this. What makes my teeth grind together though, is that you can expert this one-dimensional result from many cheaper models.
My other qualms are ethical in nature. Slandering reports ultimately led this producer out of business, principally revolving around false advertising and exploitation. Despite this, the Quadra remains popular.
P.S: Bear in mind that I have heard conflicting tales about power consumption. Some U.S models are shipped with 220w to 110w converters. I leave the decision up to you.
Ionic Pro CABR1
The Ionic Pro is what is known as a "Mini air purifier", the comparatively miniscule price-tag leads us to expect little. However, I'm certain some readers are not looking for powerful all-in-one solutions, and may simply wish to "neutralize" one room. In an effort to cut-costs, I've added the Ionic Pro in my selection.
So what can we expect from a product that is 16 times less expensive than the Quadra? This model functions exceptionally well in small areas. If you need to clean out the air in a specific area then the Ionic pro fits the bill.
This model promises the following features:
- Neutralizes smoke and unpleasant odors
- Low power consumption
- Energy efficient
- Soothing nightlight
- Fits in small spaces
There is one potential problem with reference to the last bullet point. Specifically, that the pro needs to plug directly into the power grid in order to work. So the fact that it "fits in small spaces" comes with a catch.
Miallegro 1760 Air Ionizer
The Miallegro 1760 is a triumph of style and features at a great price. The first thing that catches the eye, before you've even turned it on, is that it is both graceful and elegant and will blend-in well in most homes.
Despite the power and relative size of the product, it can be placed inconspicuously just about anywhere. Internal oscillation and sleek, quiet fans ensure that you can sleep at night without having to wear earplugs.
Other aspects which I like are the ability to program the device for automatic shut-off, reducing power expenditure and the ability to change settings from a distance with its remote control. A procrastinator's dream!
The Product Featurelist:
- Elegant ionizing tower fan purifies air while cooling the home or office.
- Slim internal oscillating design takes up minimal space for wide range of air circulation.
- 3 quiet speed settings.
- Stylish remote control with compact ergonomic design.
- Programmable shut-off timer of up to 8 hours to help save energy.
Honeywell Fresh Breeze
I guess I'm hooked to Aesthetics! I adore the dark, alienesque design of the Honeywell Fresh Breeze. This product is a direct competitor of the aforementioned Miallegro and must aim high in order to outdo its worthy adversary. Predictably then, it offers similar features.
- 3 speeds with a 12 hour programmable shut-off (beating the Miallegro's 8 hour time-frame)
- An LCD display with a touch button control system
- An internal thermostat which can also be programmed
- Oscillation
- Remote control with flashlight (seems a bit over the top to me, but it definitely caters to the midnight sugar craver crowd -- myself included).
Reviews herald the product for its performance, which see the Fresh Breeze able to move large amounts of air silently. I have to say, the product is very reminiscent of the Miallegro, in just about every aspect, the one difference being its more geeky looks which may suit different people better. Given the affordable price-range, I can only recommend these models whole-heartedly. Unless you are looking for a smaller and more specific product, in which case the cheap Ionic Pro may be what you're looking for.
